Play ‘call and response’ games for me to listen to
Show me how music can be made up of little phrases that are played or sung by different people
- Sit with another adult and me in the middle, and play ‘copy the pattern’ games with a shaker for me to listen to
- Now do the same where one pattern is answered by another that is different
- Now use communication songs from this website such as ‘how are you?’ – ‘happy’ or ‘sad’, for example
- With a fellow adult, ask the question ‘what do you want’ and sing an answer
- Gradually introduce new phrases: ‘what do you want?’ followed by possible answers
- Then ‘what do you want to do?’ and ‘where do you want to go?’, followed by answers
